Started as a celebration ended as MOVEMENT!

Hey hey to my fellow bloggers, friends, followers and NEWCOMERS!! This weeks feature is something special, something you’ve either been anticipating since spring 2009, or have heard the much deserved gossip via facebook and twitter. If you didn’t know, The First Impression: 6th Annual All White Affair hosted by James Callaham aka @Cavalli_Cali (and peers) is going down MAY 1st 2010. Hope you have the crispest of crispy white, and please no repeat offenders. We don’t want to see your now beige attire from last year at this years event!

Initially the All White started out as a landmark birthday for Cali as he embarked upon his 21st. The first All White attracted an audience of nearly 500 where a mere 250 could actually witness the festivities inside the venue. Last year alone more than 1300 party goers partook in the festivities resulting in this years celebration being held in a venue capable of hosting 2900 ready All White veterans & newbies. The All White may have begun as a birthday celebration but soon evolved into a movement that is “So Phocused“.

What does it mean to be SO PHOCUSED?
The ability to take a natural talent and combine it with a college education was the result of So Phocused, LLC. Formed in early 2009, Cali decided to “push it to the limit” as he went from a meager party promoter to a full fledge businessman. Cali was able to integrate a bachelors in accounting with a minor in entrepreneurship and marketing to form a company that now host events ranging but not limited to homecoming cabarets, many after parties at exclusive venues for numerous concerts, and branching out and giving back to the community with non-profit fundraisers
One of the mottos behind those affiliated with So Phocused is to create an atmosphere where party goers near and far can feel a sense of comfort while releasing the inner happiness bottled within. Creating joy is a specialty that few organizations similar to So Phocused are able to achieve. Blinded, they do not see the tangibility behind their aspirations, and because of this Cali and So Phocused both get the FANCi FIST PUMP of the week.

FANTASTIC FOUR
Q & A
The man behind it all James Callaham

1. What made you decide to form SO PHOCUSED?
The fact that I am the oldest and was a college student calling home wasn’t an option for money. I started So Phocused with my friends just to keep us a float as collegiate athletes. I had always seen the long haul so I just wanted to start something that I was good at but would equal to networking in a positive and legal way.

2. Where do you see yourself with in the next 10 years? Will SO PHOCUSED still be involved?
I see myself as a HOUSEHOLD name in 10 years in a positive way, and So Phocused will definitely be involved among other businesses I want to run. As I said this was the initial process for networking and gaining a consistent following.

3. When did you 1st realize the all white (and similar events) was going to be a success?

After I got to campus that Monday after the 1st All White and people
wanted to know when the next event was.

4. What can we expect in the near future from SO PHOCUSED?

You can expect Thee 6th Annual All White this Saturday May 1st
as well as “Red White & 3 Stripes (Adidas Store DC pt 2) Sunday July 4th, and of course NSU All Star Weekend pt 2 (NSU Homecoming Thurs – Sunday)

Beauty+ Fashion + High Degree= Feverishly Fresh

OK bloggers, friends and followers, I am honored to introduce to you a new up and coming fashion website that you will definitely want to bookmark on your browsers! Feverishly Fresh is the now and the future for fashion tips and guidance from none other then the fashion guru Ms. Alisha Hope.

I am privileged to call Ms. Hope a friend, and a feature on the future success of her website Feverishly Fresh was inevitable! Hope and myself attended Hampton University (HU), and from day numero uno I knew she designed clothes. I remember it all too well, it was the freshman block party and she was cutting and bleaching and ripping everyone’s HU t-shirts so they could be the ‘flyest‘! (memories *tear*)

Hope has become more innovative with her creations and has assisted with fashion shows, wardrobes and all of the above. She is definitely down with the cause and gets a FANCi FIST PUMP for what she has and will accomplish.

The FANTASTIC FOUR
Q & A

1. Who first introduced to you to the art of fashion?
I can't say any one person in particular introduced me to the art of fashion. I more so was intrigued by it, and decided to pursue it. I've always admired the arts, and always saw myself doing something creative, and one day I finally realized that I had a ‘love jones’ for fashion.

2. Who inspired you to create your webpage?
I was inspired by life to start my web page. One day I was coming home from a long shift at work and was re-evaluating my life and its direction. I knew that I could not wait for opportunities to present themselves to get where I wanted to be. I had to take it in my own hands. So right there on the red line Glenmont train to D.C. in mid march, I decided to create feverishlyfresh.com and launch it in two months.

3. Where would you like to be (with in the fashion world) within the next 10 years?
Wow, in the next 10 years. I would like to be respected in the fashion world. I would have liked to style a few ‘Celebes , costume design for a few movies, and be in the midst of opening up several boutiques around the U.S!

4. When did you first fall in love with fashion?
Hmmm, I think its fair to say my love for fashion is like finding “the one" ... When you first meet, you know you are feelin’ them, and you click immediately. You Go on a couple of dates that are a success, and you know this relationship is heading somewhere grand. You become exclusive, and everyone knows that's your boo. Then years pass and you get engaged (laughs)..

With me over the years I continue to fall deeply in love with fashion. Learning more and more about the art of styling, different fabrics, the shape of the body, and what looks best on different persons. Coming to understand different trends and forecasting what's next. Fashion keeps me on my toes, and I am truly in awe of its affect on society

preview of whats to come:

Tongue ring = smut or d!ck sucker.....womp!! wrong!!

So I dont understand why guys assume that because a female has a tongue ring that she automatically is:A. a smut or freak b. sucks d!ck or c. all of the above... that is a old misconception that started in the 80's. Not every girl that has one partakes in those activities... maybe with their significant other but not the WORLD.. When I meet people they never realize I have a tongue ring unless I laugh or say certain words because I dont play with it, I dont talk and make sure I show it... why? because im not a smut and its not for no other enjoyment but my own..its not their for extra attention its there for me and noone else.... I feel like I wanna teach a few people somethin...

Did you know tongue rings date back to the Aztec and Mesoamerican civilization period.

Of course for that time period it related to the Gods and good vs. evil and mostly priest or someone of that nature obtained the piercing for religious purpose... of course now in 2009 a tongue ring is not going to "rebuke evil" but its a fad for some, or juss somethin to have for the rest. I hate the smuts ( ex Ahley Oblein, Ashley Washburn, Chanelle SUMN) who have givin tongue rings a bad connotation because of the things they do with theirs... if they wanna sling 5 diff ding-a-lings (yess i said ding-a-lings) in their face so be it... hope they tongue dont fall out...
So puhlease when you talk to me or if you meet me dont let one the first observaitons be " oo u have a tongue ring.... or do u suck ding-a-ling cause im gladly dead u can keep it MOVIN!!

"Dime" vs. "around the way girl"

SOO the other day I had a conversation I haven’t had in a min... The whole "type of girl" kinda conversation with one of my male friends. In terms of type of girl, we were discusing the girls that like to act like everything about them is on point from their hair to their shoes to what ever new trending accessory is out: the self proclaimed "DIME"... then you have the girls that "keep it real" still look fly but dosent point out every "fly" thing they own; the so called "AROUND THE WAY GIRL". The way the conversation carried out started with the comparison of Beyonce and Keyshia Cole. First let me state the comparison had nothin to do with vocal abilities, performances, or any other skill related quality but the actual self image they portray to their fans

The BEYONCE followers:

Now first let me state these are my own views no offense to anyone! The Beyonce followers are usually from middle class families. They might not have a silver spoon but they are well off. They typically are materialistic, set non-tangible goals for themselves in terms of: appearances because they are consumed with following the latest trends, diets and etc. Most try to have the same appearance as Beyonce, from weaves, to fake lashes.

The KEYSHIA COLE followers:

Usually from middle or lower income families. Most had a challenging lifestyle which makes them appear to have a sort of bleak feeling about life events. Because of their upbringing they usually have a tight knit family, be it immediate or an extended family. These followers are similar to Beyonce's being that they like to look nice and wear nice things, however the difference between the two is the K.C followers are usualy more modest and don’t sweat the latest trends as long as they look good in what they have on. Yes!! They rock weaves and fakes lashes too but not for every new trend... ex. the new"Amber Rose " look is a Beyonce follower all day!

From my own encounter with BEYONCE followers I find them to have their priorities confused. If your in college (big ups to Hampton U) your not there to rock the new Louis Vuitton bag or not go to class because you "dont have nothin to wear". Thats just ridiculous.. throw on some sweats and call it a "bad day" I just feel that the image Beyonce has made for herself sets false standards for young girls. Some feel that they need to keep up with the trends she continues to follow and set, and some focus on her physical appearance tryin to achieve that for themselves. Now again I feel I need to emphasize im not talkin about actual fans because I am a BEYONCE fan, I'm talkin about the girls who create this façade and relate to BEYONCE and I guess SASHA FIERCE lol
I find my encounters with the KEYSHIA COLE followers to be different. The conversation held is more in depth and can range from fashion to political views big ups OBAMA!! These are the girls who are quick to throw on some cute sweats if its a bad day and make it to class because that's "what they gotta do!" The image KEYSHIA COLE has made is different depending on the viewer. Most find her image to be the hood girl some think its ghetto, some think she' just "real". Whichever reason the K.C fans follow her, they too relate to Keyshia Cole (the old and the new KEYSH lol) the same way BEYONCE followers relate to her.

As the conversation I had with my friend carried on he expressed how these different type of girls make it harder for him in the dating world. I guess because guys can find themselves attracted to the BEYONCE followers because they're all glamed up but they find it easier to relate to a K.C follower. My friend stated when he dates they type of girl that is a BEYONCE follower that they are more concerned with the latest fashion gadget rather then the more imporant things in life. He said he found them to have blinded goals and priorties. He then continued to speak about the K.C followers saying he finds it easier to relate to those He found them to be more upfront, "keep it real" and understands the struggles they may have had to over come growing up.
My question is which do guys prefer the BEYONCE or K,C type of girl? Which do they find themselves more compatible with? and ladies which are you a B or K.C? I think I'ma K.C type of girl and I AM PROUD OF IT! :)

Again I am not talking about BEYONCE FANS or KEYSHIA COLE fans but the images people try to portray. I honestly feel that BEYONCE as a brand has created a lot of materialistic confused girls who value the wrong things in! I choose BEYONCE and KEYSHIA COLE because I felt they were the epitome of the " dime" vs. the "around the way girl" and thats all! Again these are my own opioions if you dont like it gladly click the red X at the top right of your screen and dueces to ya ;-)

wHO ReALLY ruNS it?!

Rhi Rhi & Jay

So hopefully most of you have heard the new Jay-Z song "we run this town" feat Kanyeezy & Rhi Rhi.... it seems this song has created a big debate..mostly among the twitter world (plug.... follow me twitter.com/misses_monroe :D). The debate is: Did Kanye kill Jay out on this song? or Was Jay just lettin Kanye get some shine? Personally I think Jay is at a point where he doesnt have to be the best on every song and he felt Kanye had it for this particular... not sayin that he's cool with comin he second, but he just values balance amongst his songs and appearances. People need to remember sometimes less is more… that bein said I think Jays verse` fit’s the song and the song goes hard the way it is! Most people who arent really in to music fail to realize the mechanics behind a song. Theres certain factors that will make the song sound more appealing. For example the pitch of someones voice, or the way they decided to flow on the song might fit the song better. If you think about that dont you think Kanye's verse goes perfectly with the beat? and his voice on it flows? why wouldnt Jay let him "shine" if its goin to benefit the song?
Songs hot regardless!!
